Over a decade, he has educated and inspired many through his knowledge and storytelling 💚
He resigned from being the director of television programming at the BBC to create what became known as the ‘Life series’. This extraordinary project included groundbreaking cinematography, featuring different climates and locations. His grounded narration made the whole experience deeply affective, reaching an estimated 500 million viewers from 1979 to 2008.

Watch David Attenborough’s 100 Years on Planet Earth today at 8.30 pm on BBC One. Broadcast from the Royal Albert Hall, some of David’s most influential moments will be shown, alongside contributions from other wildlife & conservation experts who have been inspired by his legacy.

David has worked with many organisations throughout his career, including WWF. Present at the founding of WWF in 1961, he later became an ambassador in 2004. WWF has collaborated with him in the creation of Our Planet, A Life On Our Planet and Wild Isles.

More recently, Our Planet launched on Netflix in 2019, Nesta wrote: “Netflix estimates the series was watched by 25 million people within the first month of its release and had been viewed in more than 100 million households within a calendar year“. You can also stream OCEAN with David Attenborough on Disney+ & Hulu now.
His work continues with the Natural History Museum’s “Our Story” with David Attenborough, ending in August 2026. The Times reviewed this cinematic experience as: “…as beautiful as whale song”.
