Why we love mangroves 💚

• Mangroves protect coastlines by reducing erosion and storm surges.
• In a recent study funded by Fauna & Flora International, 700 animal species were found using mangrove forests as their habitat in Cambodia.
• Mangroves act as ‘nurseries’ for baby sharks, shrimp and fish (such as the parrot fish and goliath grouper)
• “In a single square mile, blue carbon ecosystems like mangroves hold as much carbon as the annual emissions of 90,000 cars”- Conservation International.
• The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) found “more than half of the world’s mangrove ecosystems are at risk of collapse”.
